Reasonable, Easy Access to the Children's Hospital

   The REACH Committee is a city-wide coalition of Calgarians dedicated to participatory decision-making on the future of the Alberta Children's Hospital. If a new Children's Hospital is to be built, it should be at the right location, for the right reasons, and following correct procedures.

Driving times from the six farthest points in the City, to four possible sites for the new ACH. All routes driven at low-traffic-volume times (eg, not rush hour) at legal maximums on all roads and highways, the week of May 14, 2001 (before most road construction started). Criteria for choosing routes included: fewest numbers of signal lights and highest average speed.  As shown on this map, the four destinations listed here are:

Century Park -- also called Fire Park, on Barlow Trail just north of Memorial Drive and just east of Deerfoot Trail.
Lincoln Park  -- at Crowchild Trail and 50th Avenue, on the northwest corner, across from the Atco sign.
Bow Valley -- the site of the former Bow Valley General Hospital, off Memorial Drive at 1st St and 9th Avenue NW.
Stadium Shopping Mall -- 29th St and 16th Avenue NW; the next intersection westbound is Shaganappi Trail.
